Canadian Paralympic Team Captures Gold
September 29. 2025 – Team Canada Red captured gold at the first-ever wheelchair curling event held at the Grand Slam of Curling in London, Ontario. The team, featuring Paralympians Ina Forrest, Jon Thurston, and Mark Ideson, alongside Gil Dash and Collinda Joseph, dominated Great Britain 7-2 in the final by scoring in each of the first six ends.
The victory was made even more special when the London crowd interrupted the women’s semifinals to serenade the winning team with “Oh! Canada.” Thurston described feeling the crowd’s support as an amazing opportunity, expressing hope for more Grand Slam appearances in the future.
Canada White, led by Chrissy Molnar, secured bronze with a 5-4 win over Italy. The wheelchair curling season continues with upcoming tournaments in Switzerland, Scotland, and the Czech Republic.
