Rock League Unveils Rosters and Team Names for Professional Curling Debut
December 16, 2025 – The Rock League has announced its complete rosters and team names as the new professional mixed curling league prepares for its inaugural season beginning in April 2026.
The Curling Group, which owns the league, revealed the six global franchises along with the general managers who will lead each team. The competition features two Canadian teams, one American franchise, two European squads, and one Asia-Pacific team, creating what organizers call “the world’s first truly mixed-gender professional sports league.”
Canadian Olympic Stars Lead Home Teams
Ottawa’s Rachel Homan will captain Maple United, while Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, leads Shield Curling Club. Both skips will represent Canada at the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in Italy this February before turning their attention to Rock League competition.
“Building these rosters was an opportunity to showcase the incredible depth and diversity of curling talent around the world,” said Canadian curling legend and Rock League advisor Jennifer Jones. “Our goal was to create teams that are competitive, entertaining, and reflective of their home regions, while also ensuring a level playing field for the league’s first season.”
Innovative Format
Each franchise roster includes five women and five men, allowing for various mixed-team combinations throughout the season. The league permitted four import players per team for the inaugural season to maintain competitive balance across all franchises.
Strategic advisors Jennifer Jones and John Morris collaborated on player and GM selections for each roster.
“This was a chance to help shape something truly new for curling,” Morris said. “The talent we’ve got here is energetic and seriously impressive. The dynamics of these new teams are going to lift the sport in a fresh way that fans haven’t seen before.”
General managers will oversee roster management, coaching leadership, and daily team operations throughout the season.
