Extras & Crew Needed for Groundbreaking Curling Comedy Series : “Cool Sweepings”

Production for the highly anticipated comedy series, “Cool Sweepings,” is underway in Winnipeg and is issuing a final call for local extras and crew. The series, which tells the story of four Black-Canadian friends vying for a bonspiel title and prize money, is being hailed as Canada’s first Black curling comedy.
Creator and producer Chris Sharpe’s vision has been 18 years in the making. Drawing inspiration from films like Cool Runnings, he set out to add Caribbean flair and much-needed diversity to the Manitoba cultural staple of curling.
Sharpe adds a hopeful note about the unpredictable Winnipeg weather: “It’s actually been less and less snow every year, so we’re hoping that we get snow soon.”
Set to air on Bell Fibe TV, the series is looking for people who are “enthusiastic and want to be part of history.” If you’re interested in volunteering for extra or crew work, please reach out to Black Film Space Manitoba.
